Aurélien Fillion

An eclectic musician born in 1981, Aurélien Fillion studied the recorder, the organ, chamber music and writing - harmony and counterpoint - at the Conservatories of Douai and Lille). He was rewarded in each of these disciplines. He then perfected himself over the course of one year at the CNSMD in Paris in classes covering writing (harmony) and Renaissance counterpoint.

He also studied the organ and improvisation at the ‘Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie’ (Superior Institute of Music and Pedagogy) of Namur in Belgium and obtained a ‘master didactique avec grande distinction’ (Master’s in Education with high honours). Aurélien has actively participated in several workshops and masterclasses.

It was in 2000 that he began to compose thus giving birth to a repertoire of chamber music, solo music and orchestral music. He was a prize winner at the Aristide Cavaillé-Coll (2011) organ competition for his piece Zooms. 

Aurélien teaches in the North Region of France and is active as a soloist and as member of various ensembles or orchestras in France or abroad (Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, and Finland). His musical repertoire extends from music from the Middle Ages to contempary music.
